Saigo no Bansan

The Last Supper

Sung by: Weiß

Translated by: Mina-P (Email: Minako@senshigakuen.com)

Version 2.00

Note: This is one of my favorite songs from the great seiyuu group Weiß. There's something very Beatles-y about this song for some reason. You can almost imagine them and their friends just sitting around and talking about, er, whatever Weiß talks about. Anyway, when I originally sat down to translate this song, I thought to myself, "Well, finally, a nice normal Weiß song about dinner~!" Of course then I read the title again and remembered that it IS Weiß and well, y'know. In any case, a truly excellent song from a truly excellent group of seiyuus.

kyandoru wa     tsukiakari

shokudai ni naifu

nikushimi o     musabotta

kanashimi no doresu

The candle in the moonlight

Is a knife in the candlestick

Hatred is coveted

In the dress of sadness

seijaku o     yusabutta

setsubou no wain

ooinaru     toki no hate

hibiwareta     gurasu

The silence is jolted

By the wine of despair

The great time ends

With the cracked glass

donna opera mo utaezu ni

konya butai wa owaru darou

donna gaka sae egakezu ni

konya sekai wa owaru darou

You can't present any kind of opera (1)

Tonight the stage is finished

An artist can't even paint anything

Tonight the world is finished

ai o katatte     hito wa itsuwari o

nagashitsuzukeru

ue ni mo     kizukazu ni

Speak of love, people keep

Pouring out lies

Without even noticing their hunger

teeburu ni     naranderu

zankoku na kajitsu

seihai ni     michiteiru

renbin no namida

Lined up on the table

Fruits of cruelty

Fill the sacred cup

With tears of pity

arasoi ni     chi nurareta

utsukushii     ezara

doukoku ni     shibarareta

karisome no     jiyuu

Quarrels are colored with blood

Beautiful painted dishes

Fettered by lamentations

The transient freedom

donna shirabe mo kanadezu ni

kitto rekishi wa taeru darou

donna serifu mo kikoezu ni

kitto maku sae tojiru darou

You can't play any kind of sweet melody

Surely history is at an end

You can't hear any words

Surely even the curtain is closed

nani o yume mite     hito wa yokubou o

koyashitsuzukeru

asa nado     konai no ni

What do you dream, people keep

Fattening their passions

Morning won't be coming

(1) The verb used in this line is utau. The character used indicates that the word is mean to mean "express" with the inferred "admire" in there. The word is also homonymous with the word for "to sing," which is also implied.

Lyrics belong to Anri Hibi and Warner Music Japan, taken from the Glühen album, MMCM-1005 (track 11). Not like the words make any sense if you haven't heard the song, anyway. Romanized and translated into English very badly by Mina-P, with desperately needed help, as always, by Mako-chan. Any comments or corrections can be mailed to Mina-P at Minako@senshigakuen.com.
