Ai no Melody

Love's Melody

Sung by: V6
Translated by: Mina-P (Email: Minako@senshigakuen.com)
Version 1.00

Note: For the longest time, even before it was released as a single, I knew this song as the ending theme to the V6 variety show Gakkou e Ikou! The ending sequence showed clips from the music video, which didn't really make sense until you saw the whole thing. This video is a psychodelic crack trip, with V6 dancing and singing and waving pom-poms. During the course of the video, each of the V6 members dresses up as two professions with corresponding crayon drawings that appear to be the work of elementary kids. You have things like Sakamoto-kun the police officer, Nagano-kun the fire fighter, Inocchi the salaryman, Go-kun the football player, Ken-kun the Indian(??), and Okada-kun the surgeon. I really didn't get it, nor do I have any idea what it had to do with the song, but boy the video was extremely colorful and a whole lot of fun. And I guess that's what's important... right...?

me o samaseba mou     dare mo inai asa ga
boku no koto     sukoshi dake Hold on
sabishiku saseru kara

When you wake up in the morning     everyone will have already left
As for me     Hold on just a little bit
Because it'll make me feel lonely

kitsukanai uchi ni     usoku no nukumori
te o nobashi     itooshiku hora
yubi no saki ni motomete

Before I realized it     the warmth of your right hand
Raise your hand     it's so dear to me, see
Searching with your fingertips

marude shoujo no you na
mada adokenai sono hohoemi
itsumademo kono mune to hitomi ni utsutteru

Just like a girl
That smile is still innocent
Until the very end, it will be reflected in my heart and eyes

ano sora no kanata ni     ai no Melody
futari de kuchizusameba
kawaranai kimochi ga     todoku hazu sa
kono omoi wa True my love

Beyond that far sky     it's love's Melody
If we each sing it to ourselves
Our unchanging feelings     will surely reach each other
These feelings are True my love

soba ni ireba motto     yasashiku dekiru no ni
kotoba de wa     tsutaekirenai
koto bakari no every day

If we're together     then I can be much kinder to you
Instead I won't stop telling     you with words
Nothing but that every day

omoide no kazu ga     sasaeru koi dakara
musubareta     futari no ito ga
taeru koto no nai you ni

Our love is supported     by a number of memories
Tied together     our thread
Seems like it doesn't end (1)

tokubetsu na mirai o     tashikameatta yakusoku ga
itsumademo kono ude to hitomi ni nokotteru

The promise we made     to make sure we get that special future
Until the very end, it will remain in my heart and eyes

anata dake ni sasagu     ai no Melody
ima sugu kuchizusameba
tooku hanaretetemo     todoku hazu sa
kono omoi wa True my love

I only give it to you     love's Melody
If I sing it to myself right now
Even if we're far apart     it will surely reach each other
These feelings are True my love

marude shoujo no you na
mada adokenai sono hohoemi
itsumademo kono mune to hitomi ni utsutteru

Just like a girl
That smile is still innocent
Until the very end, it will be reflected in my heart and eyes

ano sora no kanata ni     ai no Melody
futari de kuchizusameba
kawaranai kimochi ga     todoku hazu sa
kono omoi wa True my love

Beyond that far sky     it's love's Melody
If we each sing it to ourselves
Our unchanging feelings     will surely reach each other
These feelings are True my love

(1) It's a common Japanese expression that the fingers of two people in love are tied by a red thread.

Lyrics belong to Ooyagi Hirou and Avex Trax, taken from the Volume 6 album, AVCD-11958 (track 11). Not like the words make any sense if you haven't heard the song, anyway. Romanized and translated into English very badly by Mina-P, with desperately needed help, as always, by Mako-chan. Any comments or corrections can be mailed to Mina-P at Minako@senshigakuen.com.
