Ichiba ni Ikou

Going to the Market

Sung by: Shimatani Hitomi
Translated by: Mina-P (Email: Minako@senshigakuen.com)
Version 1.00

Note: Shimatani Hitomi was discovered as a high school student, winning a national singing competition and beating out thousands of applicants from all over Japan. She went on to make a mediocre debut as an Enka singer [shudder], at which point they made the smart decision and switched her to pop. Ichiba ni Ikou was her second pop single, and even though it really didn't get any publicity, I simply adore it. I heard it once on a music program and fell completely in love. It's very upbeat with a Spanish-y feel, AND it's just in my range, which makes it the perfect karaoke song. Woo-hoo~! The lyrics have random Italian stuck in which, let me tell you, was an adventure trying to figure out. Whew~!

kimi no tabemono o sagashite     boku wa ichiba e to     dekakeyou
kimi wa     yuuyake no kurosu o     hirogeteokure
bonaseera

Searching for food for you     I go out     to the market
As for you     you unfurl the tapestry     of the sunset
Buonasera

boku wa mori no ki de     chiisana ie o tateru darou     oka no ue
kimi wa     sono mado ni     ko no ha no nedoko o     shiiteokure

As for me, I'll build     a little house from trees in the forest     on top of a hill
As for you     you made a bed     of green leaves for me     on the window

kimi no suki na hana wa     itsumo hakanai kaori
iru tiimo     sarubia     rozumariino

It always smells vaguely     of your favorite flower
Il tiemo     Salvia     Rosmarino

boku ni wa     nee     nannimo iranai yo
kimi no utsukushisa ya     honto no ai o shiru tame ni
nee     issho ni kurasou yo
ashita mo tsugi no hi mo     mirai o zenbu     kimi to itai kara

As for myself     yes     I don't need anything
In order to know     your beauty or true love
Hey     let's live together
Tomorrow and the day after     the entire future     I want to be with you

kimi no omoide o kajitte     nakaseru neiro wa     vioriino
namida     koboretara atsumete     robou no hana ni sosogou

Knawing at your memories     the timbre that makes you cry is     violino (1)
Tears     fall from your eyes and collect     watering the roadside flowers

itsuka nayami no tane wa     yume no hana ni naru kara
iru tiimo     sarubia     rozumariino

One day, the seeds of your suffering     will become the flowers of your dreams
Il tiemo     Salvia     Rosmarino

daredemo     sou     shizen ni shitteiru
umareta sono hi kara     sagashiteta no wa     ai no uta
nee     issho ni kurasou yo
nannimo nai keredo     mirai o zenbu     kimi ni ageru kara

No one     yes     naturally knows
From the day that you were born     the thing you've been looking for has been     the song of love
Hey     let's live together
I don't have anything, but     the entire future     I want to give to you

nee     nibasha ni kimi o nose     pattata no kago     nose
futari no ie ni     kaerou yo
nee     kizutsuite kowareta     kimi no sono kokoro o
kanarazu boku ga     naoshiteageru yo

Hey     take a ride on a wagon     take a ride     in a basket of patata (2)
Let's go home     to our house
Hey     If I hurt and break     your heart
I'll certainly     heal it for you

sou     daredemo shitteiru
umareta sono hi kara     utatteta no wa     ai no uta
nee     kazoku ni naritai yo
nannimo nai keredo     mirai o zenbu     kimi ni ageru kara

Yes     no one knows
From the day that you were born     the thing you've been singing has been     the song of love
Hey     I want to be a family
I don't have anything, but     the entire future     I want to give to you

mou     nannimo iranai yo
kimi no utsukushisa ya     honto no ai o shiru tame ni
nee     issho ni kurasou yo
ashita mo tsugi no hi mo     mirai o zenbu     kimi to itai kara

I don't need     anything anymore
In order to know     your beauty or true love
Hey     let's live together
Tomorrow and the day after     the entire future     I want to be with you

(1) Violino means "violin" in Italian.
(2) Patata means "potato" in Italian.

Lyrics belong to Kou Chinka, otherwise known as the person who's name I just butchered, and Avex Trax, taken from the Ichiba ni Ikou single, AVCD-30247 (track 1). Not like the words make any sense if you haven't heard the song, anyway. Romanized and translated into English very badly by Mina-P, with desperately needed help, as always, by Mako-chan. Any comments or corrections can be mailed to Mina-P at Minako@senshigakuen.com.
