uncontrol
Lyrics, Written, Sung by: Gackt Camui

Version 1.00
Note: The fourth song from Gackt's wonderful sophomore album, Rebirth. I adore the song and think that the construction is really fascinating. The song can be divided quite cleanly into two parts: the first part is musically clashing with varied rhythms and amazing phrasing; the lyrics are vague and dream-like. The second part has a bright, open sound that's completely different than the first part and almost ironic when you pair it with the lyrics. The song is somehow unworldly and one of my favorites on the album. (I say that about all of Gackt's songs, but you get the point, right...?)
araware... furue...
odorikurueba ii
Come out... tremble...
Dance in ecstasy
osanai ama iro no yume
yorisou kotonaru tsuioku
yurerarete kieru ariesu
ano hi ni utsutta boku ga warau
Childish flaxen colored dreams
Differing recollections nestling together
An alias that shakes and fades away
Reflected in that day, I snicker
anata wa utsumuite itoshii me o tojite
sukoshi mo katarazu ni... tsumetai mama de
mou nido to modorenai yasuragi ni tsutsumarete
kono mama kuchihatete mo hanasanai
You hang your head and close your beloved eyes
Without even speaking a little bit... you remain cold
Can't go back to being wrapped in peace
Even if I rot away like this, I won't let go (1)
kono yo no owari ni kirameku
kurui yure kare no oshie no mama ni
Glittering at the end of this world
As his mad teachings said
anata wa dare yori mo kore hodo hakanakute
boku dake okizari ni doko e yuku no?
hakanai yume de ii... koe dake wa kikasete
kono mama kieru no wa yurusanai
You are, more than anyone else, so fleeting
Where do you go when you leave just me behind?
Even a transient dream is fine... You make my voice ask
To vanish like this is unforgivable
dore dake sakende mo... dore dake motomete mo... dore dake kawashite mo...
dore dake dakishimete mo... dore dake nozonde mo... dore dake kizutsukete mo...
No matter how much I cry out... no matter how much I ask... no matter how much I evade...
No matter how much I embrace you... no matter how much I wish... no matter how much I hurt...
anata wa sora o miageta mama
As you looked up at the sky (2)
shizuka na yume dake o...
yasashii yume dake o...
Only the quiet dream...
Only the gentle dream...
(1) In one of the weirdest changes I've ever seen, quite frankly, the lyrics say tatoe while the song is sung as kono mama. The way it's written, the line's meaning is closer to being "Even if I rot away like this, for example..." while the sung lyric's meaning makes it closer to "Even if I rot away as I am now..." The meaning barely changes, only the implication of whether or not he's rotting away at the moment (the written lyrics don't imply that, but the sung ones do). Unless it's a typo. Wouldn't that be my luck...
(2) In a more normal lyrics change, the kanji uchuu (universe) is used for the sung sora (sky). Basically what this does is serve to say that the person is not just looking up at the blue sky and the clouds, but the sky in a broader meaning of the word.
Lyrics belong to Gackt Camui and Nippon Crown, taken from the Rebirth album, CRCP-40001 (track 4). Not like the words make any sense if you haven't heard the song, anyway. Romanized and translated into English very badly by Mina-P, with desperately needed help, as always, by Mako-chan. Any comments or corrections can be mailed to Mina-P at Minako@senshigakuen.com.
